Conveyor belts

The materials and characteristics of BeltingSkill conveyor and process belts are selected to meet a wide range of requirements for the most different industrial applications, such as wear resistance, chemicals, high or low temperatures and the sanitation needs typical of certain industries.

If the belt has the simple function of moving the products along the line while maintaining their characteristics unaltered, it is defined as a “conveyor belt”. If on the contrary, thanks to its characteristics, it contributes to their transformation during the work cycle on the conveyor, it is defined as a “process belt”. Typical examples of process tapes are tapes for printing on fabrics and pre-press tapes in the production of wood panels.

Design of conveyors

The conveyor and process belts are made up of one or more synthetic fabrics coupled together, which guarantee the necessary tensile strength, and a top cover on which the products to be handled and / or processed will be positioned. The coupling of the fabrics is carried out through the use of suitable interlayers of thermoplastic material. The material, thickness and surface type of the transport side depend on the function of the belt.

The transport side covers are mainly made of thermoplastic materials, such as TPU, TPO, PVC etc., and elastomeric type rubbers, such as NBR, PUR etc., or they can be made up of a fabric cover. The sliding side is instead mainly made up of a fabric, usually impregnated with a thermoplastic material or a wear-resistant PUR, which provides a low and constant coefficient of friction.


A well-designed belt surface has the dual function of both safe product transportation and facilitating the industrial process in which the belt is used. Careful selection is essential to find the right belt for each conveyor or process application.

Types of fabric

The strength of each belt is determined by its fabric construction and composition. The fabric is usually inserted between layers of polymeric material (thermoplastic or elastomers) that protect it from external factors, such as moisture, light and contamination. Fabric also increases the belt’s mechanical properties, preventing damage, caused by wear. The fabric provides longitudinal strength and flexibility, that are especially important in the presence of small pulleys and knife edge applications.

Belt joining

Our conveyor belts start off from a slab, that is then cut to the desired length and width, depending on the Customer specifications. At this point, the piece of belt is ready to be endlessly spliced, through the use of adhesive or through our proprietary bonding method, depending on materials and application.
